What is WebRTC and why is it dangerous?

WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communications) enables direct audio/video streaming between browsers and apps without intermediate servers. Browsers must exchange public and local IP addresses to connect.

VPN Connection Behavior:

  • VPN masks your public IP address
  • WebRTC shows only local IP address

Other Network Types:

  • Regular Proxy: WebRTC reveals real public IP
  • Tor Network: May expose real IP address

Recommendation: If you don't use WebRTC features, disable it in your browser settings for better connection consistency.
